Too Small To See

Too Small to See was developed by the Sciencenter of Ithaca, Cornell University and Painted Univese.  Tamarack Design completed fabrication of several exhibit components and performed the initial installation at Disney's EPCOT Center.

This 5,000 square foot exhibition explores two concepts critical for understanding nanoscale science and engineering:

•       How do we see things too small to see?

•       How do we make things too small to see?

Our learning goals are for visitors to understand the following:

•       All things are made of atoms

•       At the nanometer-scale, molecules are in constant motion.

•       Molecules have shape and size

•       Molecules in their nanometer-scale environment have unexpected properties.

Through the exhibits, we introduce each idea many times for the audience to gain an understanding of the nanoscale.  We have created a balance between content and fun, with each exhibit being highly interactive and informative.  Interpretive materials are designed to reinforce each learning goal through multiple types of experiences and various media.  We also use iconic images throughout the exhibits to reinforce images of the nanoscale world.
